The Bastion is a massive, heavily armored ground unit. It walks on two legs and carries a giant fully automatic minigun. Think of it as a walking tank. It moves very slowly, but its armor is almost impenetrable to normal bullets.
Behavior: It usually guards high-value areas. It is rarely alone—you will often see Wasps or Hornets flying above it to protect it. It doesn't run; it just marches toward you while shooting.
The Bastion has a very simple but deadly pattern.
The Screech: Before it starts shooting, it makes a loud mechanical screech sound. This is your warning!
The Barrage: After the sound, it spins up the minigun and unloads a stream of bullets at your last known position.
Tracking: It turns slowly, so if you run faster than it turns, you can outmaneuver the gun.
You cannot just shoot it in the chest. You have to be smart.
Shoot the Knees: Look for the Yellow Kneecaps. These are the main weak points on the front. If you destroy the knees, the Bastion will stumble or fall, making it vulnerable.
The Rear Cylinder: On its back, there is a glowing cylinder. This is its power core. It takes massive damage here. This is why teamwork is key: one person distracts it from the front, and the other shoots the back.
Listen for the Audio: When you hear the screech, get into cover immediately. Do not try to trade damage with a minigun.
Heavy Ammo: Light ammo (pistols/SMGs) will just bounce off the armor. Use LMGs, Snipers, or Grenade Launchers to break the plates.
The Bastion is one of the best sources for XP in the game. It works like the Rocketeer—parts fall off it as you fight.

Loot: 500 XP per part (This is huge. If you loot a Bastion fully, you can get thousands of XP in one kill.)
Can I kill a Bastion solo? Yes, but it is hard. Since you don't have a teammate to distract it, you have to rely on breaking the kneecaps. Use a sniper to shoot the yellow knees from far away. Once it falls down, you can run around and shoot the back.
What is the "Bastion Cell" used for? This is a very important crafting item. You need Bastion Cells to craft heavy armor upgrades and shield generators. It is a key item for "tank" builds.
Does smoke work on the Bastion? Yes. If you throw a smoke grenade, the Bastion cannot lock onto you. It might spray bullets randomly, but it stops the accurate tracking. This gives you time to flank it.
Is it worth fighting? If you have the ammo, YES. The XP reward (500 per part) is crazy high. But be careful—if you run out of heavy ammo halfway through the fight, you are in trouble because light ammo does almost nothing to it.
How do I deal with the drones? Always kill the flying Wasps first. The Bastion is slow, so you can hide from it while you shoot the drones. If you try to fight the Bastion while drones are shooting you, you will die fast.
