In ARC Raiders the world is split into two main parts: the safe underground colony and the dangerous surface. You start every session in Speranza, which is the main hub. this is where u manage your inventory, talk to traders like Celeste and upgrade your workshop. its the only safe place in the game. but if u want to progress u have to deploy to the surface.
The main map on the surface is known as the Buried City. It is a massive open world environment that includes different biomes like the Rust Belt and the Southern Coast. The map is huge so u need to use ziplines and jump pads to move around fast. The surface is full of old ruins where u can scavenge for loot. u will find everything from basic scrap in the residential houses to high tier electronics in the military zones. but be careful because the best loot is always guarded by heavy ARC machines.
The most important thing to learn about the map is the Extraction Points. u cant just leave whenever u want, u have to go to a designated extraction zone and call for a pick up. this alerts everyone nearby so expect a fight. The map also has dynamic weather and random events that can change how u play. sometimes a drone swarm will attack or a heavy storm will roll in reducing your visibility. check the table below for a list of all map events and hazards u might face.
You can check all dynamic events timers at out Event tracker page!
